Vaccination centres open to everyone tomorrow // Masks no longer required outside
A quick update on Saturday, September 11, 2021
Hi guys, I’m on holiday this week so this is just a quick update with a couple of important bits of news. I’ll be back next week with a full newsletter.
Vaccination centres open to everyone tomorrow
Portugal’s vaccine taskforce has issued a direct appeal to immigrants to get vaccinated against covid-19 and opened up the process further to people without SNS numbers. All of Portugal’s vaccination centres have moved to the “Casa Aberta” (Open House) model allowing anyone to get vaccinated at any time (within opening hours), according to a note sent to the press this week. This appears to be the case moving forward but the government is also promoting tomorrow (and yesterday) as a special day for people without SNS numbers to get vaccinated so it’s worth going tomorrow if you can. I’m sorry I can’t be any clearer. The taskforce says all you’ll need is some sort of valid ID, like a passport, which you can present at any vaccination centre in the country. But there have, unfortunately, been some reports of people having difficulties, so it’s probably best to still bring any proof of residence/work contract/SEF application if possible. You can find your local centre's opening hours here.
Masks to no longer be required outside
The law requiring us to wear a mask outside in public places (when social distancing is difficult) will end tomorrow, Público reports. But we’re being urged to keep carrying one with us any time we leave the house, not just because they’ll continue to be required inside but also for any time we run into a big group of people. Health authorities continue to recommend wearing a mask to anyone in a large gathering or with certain health issues, and anyone who wants to can, of course, continue wearing one, Público reports.
