Your chance to support this newsletter
A huge thank you to everyone who responded to the survey link I sent out about 10 days ago. It was amazing to hear how helpful you’ve been finding my daily coronavirus newsletter for expats. Navigating these strange times isn’t easy and it was heartwarming to read your kind words. I’ll be adding some of the suggestions you made too.
I started the newsletter to keep as many people informed as possible, so I’ll never require you to pay for access. That said, while I love putting this together it does take up a large part of my week. Through the survey a lot of you let me know you’d be happy to pay a small subscription or one-time payment to help keep this going.
I know most people are struggling financially at the moment and I don’t like asking for support. But if you’re able to contribute, please consider subscribing for $5 a month (Substack is only in USD). I’m not trying to entice you in with “bonus content” or anything fancy, it’s just a donation.
A few of you also said you’re tired of subscriptions (which I totally get), so here’s a handy one-time donate button for you to give whatever you like.
What you’ll get:
Trustworthy, easy-to-read news about the coronavirus pandemic in Portugal.
A warm fuzzy glow from helping to keep this thing going.
A couple of other points:
For now, the newsletter will land in your inbox every weekday while things are intense, but I’ll likely cut down the volume as the situation calms down.
Lots of you said you’d love for the newsletter to continue beyond the pandemic. I received plenty of great suggestions (thank you!) and I’m still thinking about what that might look like. I probably won’t be making any decisions in the near future, but I’ll keep you updated.
Advertising
A huge 89% of the survey respondents said they would be okay with 1-2 advertising banners in the newsletter. This is something I am still exploring and may beta test. If you are interested in advertising please email hello@danielasundebrown.com.
